A bit more about me

Years ago — too many to mention — I was a third quarter college freshman majoring in elementary education.  Registration was closing down and I needed one more course.  My course criteria was set in stone — nothing before 10 a.m.  As I walked about with that lost look that only a blond can do so naturally, I heard  “What about Philosophy?”  Well, I didn’t have a clue what philosophy was, but there was an opening, it was a night course and to boot, the professor was somewhat charming.  Sign me up!  Over that quarter of “Introduction to Philosophy” my world expanded, and it appeared that I had a “knack” for the philosophical.

During the remainder of  my undergraduate studies — elementary education long forgotten — and two years as a graduate student in Philosophy, many ideas and thoughts developed.  These ideas and thoughts — or seeds — were put aside and rarely thought of as I turned all of my attention to bearing and raising my three children.  Years later, as I prepared to enter the “paid” workforce, I went back to school.  30+ hours — the number required to sit for the C.P.A. exam — of accounting courses later, I was on my way to becoming a certified public accountant.

Philosophy is brimming with questions — nothing is certain.  Much to my surprise, accounting and tax aren’t much different.  Maybe I can rediscover some of those seeds — those neglected seeds — and nourish them with life experiences.  Some seeds may refuse to sprout — neglected for too long.  But just maybe, some will grow and flourish.  This blog is for expressing things that are on my mind, questions that I am still trying to answer and always seeking to understand this thing we call life.  And who knows, there may even be some tax advice sprinkled in for good measure.
